FAQWhy does a child need a developmental assesment ( Denver developmental screening test) if some kind of developmental delay is expected in all orphans? Developmental screening is an intergral part of routine pediatric assesment. As they say in the training manual:”..the Denver test.. is adminestered by assessing a child’s performance on various age-appropriate tasks. The test is valuable in screening asymptomatic children for possible problems, in confirming intuitive suspicions with an objective measure and in monitoring children at risk for developmental problems..The Denver 2 is not an IQ test, nor is it a definitive predictor of future adaptive or intellectual ability. It is not designed to generate diagnostic labels such as lerning disability, language disorder or emotional disturbance..Rather, the test is designed to compare a given child’s performance on a variety of tasks to the performance of other children the same age” What is the difference between your report and official report that is provided (sometimes) by an orphanage or by the agency? Usually official reports have limited information of doubtful reliability. The report, provided by the specialists of our centre is based on western medical approach, has lots of true and relevant information. If some medical conditions (for instance, acute ear infection or eczema) are diagnosed during evaluation, can we leave appropriate drugs at the orphanage in order he is treated for this condition untill we come to pick him up? This is possible, but some doctors refuse to use topical steroids to treat atopic dermatitis because of fobia of any steroids. In this case, even if you leave the drug, it will not be used. But it’s always worth to try to persuade them to do that. What donations can we make for the orphanage? It is a good question to ask when you speak with an orphnanage director because every orpahnage needs different things. Universally, they ALWAYS need diapers and other disposable products for kids. |
